Globacom and Huawei Technologies have come together recently to reward students across institutions in the country with a combination of smart phones and super-fast internet services.
It is without doubt that the internet data services makes up a huge part of creating ease in life and daily activities, with the huge rise in broad band penetration in Nigeria.
A lot of activities can be done online now, academic and corporate research, movie tickets,paying utility bills,mobile banking,booking cabs etc, this creates a rising need for faster and better internet connectivity.
Globacom partnership with Huawei technology has made it easier with the leading global ICT and telecommunications equipment and service providers.
Students to be rewarded are top five final year students in each institution, the plan is to aid free and fast internet wi-fi connectivity for school research and enable students stay connected to good internet for academic staff even while outside the school premises for free.
This programme is solely to aid university students and has targeted thirty(30) universities and fifty(50) Nigerian students offering free smartphones from Huawei loaded with six(6) months unlimited Glo 4G data.
The programme kicked off with one of the Nigerian universities in Ogun, the popularly known Babcock university where the VC and other members of staff in the university who went to receive the routers.
Also five outstanding final year students where rewarded and received their smart phones from Huawei.
Representing Huawei Technology Company Limited, was the deputy Human Resources Director, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson who expressed Huawei’s plegde to assist it’s client business success by providing leading innovation technology to support as it does for Globacom and other of it’s clients.
She also stated the companies commitment to corporate social responsibility in connection with building knowledge capacity of Nigerian youths and bridging a digital gap in unconnected societies,rural areas inclusive.
