Burna Boy’s “Ye”, sets new record; certified Gold in America

The manager and mother of Burna Boy, Mrs Bose Ogulu, disclosed via her Instagram handle that the Nigerian entertainer and Grammy award-winning singer, has attained another major stride in his musical career.

The singer’s single, “Ye”, which was released in 2018, has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

In the U.S. , the Recording Industry Association  of America (RIAA) awards certification, is based on the number of albums and singles sold through retail and other ancillary markets. A Gold record is a single or album that sells 500,000 units (records, tapes or compact discs).

Burnaboy’s song, “Ye” joins the growing list of Nigerian records to be Gold certified in the U.S. Some other Nigerian songs previously on the list include; ‘If’, and ‘Fall’, by Davido as well as ‘Come Closer’ by Wizkid.

Since the release of the song on August 6, 2018, it has won numerous awards and other major recognitions and nominations.
