The political fight between the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki seems to have gotten messier as the governor yesterday sacked eight commissioners from the state executive council.
In a statement released by the secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq.“The Edo State Government has approved the reshuffle of the State Executive Council (EXCO), with the Commissioners named below relieved of their appointments with effect.
The sacked commissioners are Joseph Ugheoke, the commissioner for energy and water resources; Magdalene Ohenhen, women affairs and social development; and Osahon Amiolemen, infrastructure.
Others are David Osifo, the commissioner for health; Mika Amanokha, youth and special duties; Mariam Abubakar, budget; Emmanuel Usoh, wealth creation, cooperatives and employment; and Christopher Adesotu, science and technology.
According to the statement, “the state government offers its immense gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service and assures of continued cordial relations in the years ahead. While congratulating the newly-appointed commissioners and Special Advisers, the governor urged them to serve the people with integrity,” the statement added.
Governor Obaseki has since nominated replacements for the sacked commissioners and special advisers.
