On the 10th of March (Tuesday), following being enlisted as a player by the German tactician in a game between the Squirrels of Benin and Crocodiles of Lesotho, Alex Iwobi, the Nigerian player for Super Eagles, has indirectly called on the coach, Gernot Rohr, to allow him play in his preferred position in the coming AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) games. The game been the Squirrels and Crocodiles has been fixed on the 30th of March.
The 24 year old footballer, has remained a constant player in the Senior national team. In the games, he played in diverse positions under Coach Rohr.
Nigeria are to Group L on eight points while Benin sits second on seven points with both teams set for a make or mar clash to determine the group leader.
Iwobi’s wish was made known via his official Twitter handle. The tweet reads:
“Always an honour to get a call up to my National Team. Hopefully, I get to play in my preferred position.”
