AFCON: ‘We respect Nigeria, but we will beat them in the coming match’ – Coach, Benin Republic

The upcoming 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches by Super Eagles, against Benin Republic and Lesotho (respectively), is fast approaching with much anticipation from all parties.

No fewer than 19 Super Eagles players have arrived at camp for the remaining two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho.

Players for Super Eagles were earlier announced by the Nigeria Football Federation, via their official twitter account. In total, nineteen (19) players have been chosen: Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Semilogo Ajayi, Henry Onyekuru, Francis Uzoho, Oghenekaro Etebor, Adeleke, Chigozie Awaziem, Abdullahi Shehu, Iwuala, Noble, Alex Iwobi, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo, Ebuehi, Okoye Maduka, Jamilu Collins and Paul Onuachu.

The Eagles are to play against Benin Republic on March 27 in Porto Novo and later, Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The Benin Republic coach, Michel Dussuyer, has assured the readiness of his team in the coming match.

Although the Squirrels are a point behind the Super Eagles, the coach speaking during a press conference stated that they will approach the game with everything they have. In his words;

“We have respect for Nigeria but we also have our assets. We will approach the game with a lot of seriousness and determination.

We know what we have to do On Saturday our ambition is to win. It will not be an easy task. We have hopes.”
