The Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Zhou Pingjian, Executive Director, China civil engineering construction corporation, Mr. Jacques Liao, as well as the senior officials of the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health received the doctors who arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 5:15 pm, April 8, 2020.

About 15 of the Chinese health workers arrived Nigeria through the Air Peace flight, to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

This came after the Nigerian Medical Association(NMA), rejected plans by the federal government to invite the Chinese medical team to assist Nigeria in her fight against coronavirus.

The president of the Nigeria Medical Association, Francis Faduyile described the move as a misplaced priority and a thing of embarrassment to the membership of the association and other health officials, who are giving their best in the fight against the deadly virus.
