Delta State University lecturer,Professor Ovaborhene Idamoyibo died after Release

Professor Ovaborhene Idamoyibo, a lecturer at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, who was reportedly kidnapped last week, has died.

Professor Ovaborhene Idamoyibo, who was the Head of Music Department was kidnapped on April 9, in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the State, while returning to Abraka following a family meeting, according to LIB.

According to LIB, The kidnappers had requested a ransom of 50 million Naira, but it was eventually reduced to 3Million Naira, which was reportedly paid.

He was apparently discharged at midnight on Easter Sunday and abandoned unconscious on a lonely bridge in Abraka, according to the Nigerian Tribune.

Following that, some passers-by came across his nearly lifeless corpse and brought him to the Dunflox Hospital in Abraka for first-aid treatment to stabilize him.

On Easter Monday, he was referred to the DELSU Teaching Hospital in Oghara, where it was discovered that his condition had worsened.

He may have died on the route to the hospital, according to a family source, before doctors pronounced him dead at Delta State Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH).
