The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly detained Obinna Iyiegbu, a socialite and entrepreneur, popularly known as Obi Cubana.
According to sources, the business tycoon arrived the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja at about 12 p.m. on Monday. The sources who have chosen to remain anonymous claim that the charges leveled against Mr Cubana borders on money laundering and tax fraud.
As of the time of filing this report, the alleged suspect was still being interrogated by operatives of the commission.
When contacted, the spoke person for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said he had yet to be briefed on the development.

Obi Cubana became a popular figure and “the talk of town” in July when he hosted an elaborate burial for his late mother in Oba, Anambra State. The event recorded several celebrities, businessmen and women, including politicians in attendance.
The popular socialite subsequently became a role model to several Nigerian youths, including the Big Brother Naija, 2021 winner, Whitemoney who aimed to venture into business with the hope of becoming successful like Obi Cubana.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the socialite and business mogul stated that he started as an estate agent and made his first N1 million through a house furnishing contract he got at that time.
Today, he holds large investments in entertainment, hospitality, real estate, among others.
