Gunmen attack Governor Uzodinma’s hometown residence, set building on fire

Gunmen have reportedly attacked the hometown residence of Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo State, and set the building on fire.

The incident occurred in his hometown in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo state, in the early hours of Saturday, April 24.

There were reports of heavy gunfire during the attack by the unknown gunmen.

Two of his security aides were reportedly killed by the gunmen who also set the building on fire. Cars and other valuables in the building were affected by the ensuing inferno. Efforts are currently being made to stop the fire.

However, detailed information about the incident is still sketchy, as Governor Hope Uzodinma is yet to react to the attack.

This is coming weeks after police stations and Correctional facility were also burnt down, and inmates freed.

Recall also, that due to the recent insecurity in the Eastern region, the Governors had a meeting and inaugurated a uniformed security outfit in the East named Ebube-agu, to help combat insecurity in the region.
