In a brief statement issued on 18th January, 2021, by the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Education and Director, Press and Public Relations, Ben Goong, school authorities were warned to desist from asking students or parents to undergo COVID-19 test before they are accepted into the school environs.
According to the statement: “No Covid-19 Test Required for Resumption of Students. The Federal Ministry of Education says no Covid-19 Test is required for returning students to be admitted into their schools. Only temperature checks should be carried out on students and any other person crossing any school gate. School authorities should therefore refrain from asking students or parents to undergo covid-19 test before they are accepted in their schools.”
This emerged as a result of many requests from management of schools to parents and returning students to issue results of their COVID19 tests before admission into the institutions. In that regard, the Federal Government has asked schools and its authorities to desist from the act.
