One of Nigeria’s prominent medical doctors, Mr. Alfa Saadu, dies after he got infected with coronavirus while caring for those infected with the COVID-19.
He died in the morning of Tuesday, March 31, while contacting the virus and didn’t survive.
Mr. Alfa, who had retired after taking top medical offices in the UK, had returned to care for those infected with the virus.
He had joined the United Kingdom personnel as a volunteer when the virus broke out in the country, and later got infected.
His profile shows that he started working as a medical director and deputy chief executive at the Ealing Hospital NHS trust in the UK, February, 2011 and served until September, 2014.
On October, 2014, he was appointed as the interim medical director/responsible officer/Caldecott guardian of the newly merged Integrated Care Organisation known as the London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.
Mr. Alfa accepted voluntary redundancy from the Trust July,2015.
Some of his friends and colleagues are currently mourning him via social media, while describing him as one of the brilliant and eloquent gentleman who always worked hard.
Other prominent leaders have also sent tribute messages to the families of the deceased.
His death is a big loss to Nigeria, the United Kingdom and its citizens. May his Soul Rest In Peace.
