During a sensitization meeting on COVID-19 vaccine introduction in Abuja, it was revealed by the PTF (Presidential Task Force) on COVID 19 in Nigeria that at least 405 lives have been lost to the virus in the past two months.
Mr Boss Mustapha, PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated that the fatality rate is 34 per cent higher, with an increased from 1,173 in November 2020 to 1,578 in January of 2021.
He said, “Unfortunately, Nigeria, like the rest of the world, is now experiencing a more virulent second wave, which has increased the number of COVID-19 related deaths from 1,173 on November 29, 2020, to 1,578 on January 31, 2021, an increase of 34 per cent. The number of infections has also grown, tremendously.”
The Chairman said the arrival of vaccine has given hope to humanity, including Nigerians and a lot of efforts have been put in order to get the vaccines for the people.
