In the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, at least forty-seven (47) persons arrested at Bannex Plaza and EFAB Mall in Abuja, were tried before the mobile court for violating COVID protocols. The convicted persons pled guilty and were given an optional fine of #2,000 or community service.
A stern warning has been issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and they are likely to shut down the popular plaza and mall as a result of continuous scorning of the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations, 2021, by owners and customers.
The warning was issued by the Head of Media, Enlightenment and Publicity of the Task Force, Comrade Ikharo Attah, following the continuous violations of the COVID safety protocols in major malls and plazas in the capital city, especially Bannex Plaza and EFAB Mall.
After a sitting of the Abuja mobile court, Mr. Attah disclosed to reporters that most of the offenders brought before the court were picked up from the two places and it was observed that the both facilities were found not to have provisions for washing points or temperature machines at their entry points, which goes against the protocols put in place by the NCDC and PTF.
