Sunday Igboho, Arrested in Cotonou

The controversial Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the country.

According to report, Sunday Igboho was arrested on Monday (19th of July), after he eloped from Nigeria to avoid arrest by security personnel following certain activities that was seen as threat to the nation’s peace.

Prior to the activist’s departure from Nigeria, a source disclosed that Sunday had perfected plans to secretly escape from Nigeria through Cotonou and was heading to Germany, however, he was tailed down in Cotonou.

Another source said, “Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago. He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night. He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou. They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria.”

Not too long ago, the Department of State Services (DSS) had declared Sunday Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
