The World Health Organization (WHO) said that within two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China increased 13-fold and the number of affected countries has tripled.

The index case of coronavirus was discovered in Lagos on February 24, when an Italian who came on a business trip to Nigeria fell ill and was later tested positive of the disease and was quarantined for proper treatment.

The president’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari has tested positive to COVID-19 after his return exactly a week from his trip to Germany with the meetings with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian Electricity expansion programme.

He was said to be having a meeting on the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria all through Sunday, where he began to cough.

Subsequently, he submitted himself voluntarily for testing and got informed of his status yesterday.

Mr. Kyari has however, gone into isolation, following his test result.

The test of president Buhari was necessitated after his chief of staff tested positive to the COVID-19 virus on Monday, March 23rd.

The president of Nigeria, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari has tested negative to the virus, following the test that was carried by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
