TWENTY NEW PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA (FULL LIST)

Twenty new private universities have been approved in Nigeria by the FEC (Federal Executive Council), totaling the number of private universities in the country to ninety-nine. Below is the full list of the new institutions:

  1. ABUJA (FCT)- PHILOMAT UNIVERSITY, KUJE
  2. AKWA IBOM- TOPFAITH UNIVERSITY, MKPATAK
  3. CROSS RIVER- HAVILLA UNIVERSITY, NDE-IKOM
  4. EDO- MUDIAME UNIVERSITY, IRRUA
  5. IMO- CLARETIAN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NEKEDE
  6. IMO- MARANATHAN UNIVERSITY, MGBIDI
  7. JIGAWA- KHADIJA UNIVERSITY, MAJIA
  8. KADUNA- NOK UNIVERSITY, KACHIA
  9. KANO- AL-ISTIQAMA UNIVERSITY, SUMAILA
  10. KANO- CAPITAL CITY UNIVERSITY, KANO
  11. KAN0- MARYAM ABACHA AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, KANO
  12. KWARA- AHMAN PATEGI UNIVERSITY, PATEGI
  13. KWARA- THOMAS ADEWUMI UNIVERSITY, OKO-IRESE
  14. KWARA- UNIVERSITY OF OFFA, OFFA
  15. LAGOS- JAMES HOPE UNIVERSITY, LAGOS
  16. NASARAWA- AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY, PIYANKO
  17. NASARAWA- MEWAR UNIVERSITY, MASAKA
  18. NIGER- EDUSOKO UNIVERSITY, BIDA
  19. PLATEAU- ANAN UNIVERSITY, KWALI
  20. PLATEAU- KARL KUMM UNIVERSITY, VOM

According to the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, the approved universities are to receive their provisional license from the National Universities Commission, and the license will be used for the next three years while monitoring and evaluation of the new schools will be on-going.
