World Trade Organization: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Becomes Sole Candidate

The reality of renowned Economist and International Development Expert, Ngozi Okonji-Oweala, becoming the first African leader of the World Trade Organization seems to be just around the corner as the South Korean candidate, Yoo Myung-hee has dropped out of the race.

Recall that in October of 2020, Okonji-Iweala was strongly recommended by top officials of the WTO like China, Japan, and EU, to lead the organization but the appointed was hindered by the United States of America, under Trump’s leadership.

With fingers crossed and a lot of hope in mind, we await the outcome that many believe will be in favor of the Nigerian candidate, following the change of government in the Unites States.
